Ashtavinayaka means 'Eight Ganeshas' when translated in Sanskrit. Lord Ganesha, the Hindu God of unity, remover of obstacles, learning and prosperity. The Ashtavinayaka Yatra covers eight holy temples of Lord Ganesha which are located around Pune. Each temple has its own individuality and mythology. The deities in each temple are distinct from each other. Some of these deities are described as 'Swayambhu' figurines. This is to point the truth that no human created these deities; they were formed completely by nature.
According to Hindu Shastra, you will have to visit the Moreshwar temple at Morgaon first and then in sequence visit the temples at Theur-Siddhatek-Ranjangaon-Ozar-Lenyadri-PaIi and Mahad. This will complete your Ashtavinayak Yatra. Wherein your overnight stay will be in Pune.
  • Day Wise Itinerary:

Day 1

Pune-Morgaon-Theur-Siddhatek-Ranjangaon

On your arrival at Pune airport or railway station, you will be met by an ITH representative who will assist you and handover the necessary documents. This day proceed to Morgaon where Moreshwar temple is located along the Karha River A temple that looks like a tiny fort from a distance, is situated in the Baramati Taluka Of Pune district in Maharashtra This region is also known as Bhuswananda. Shaped as a peacock, this region has in the past seen an abundance of peacocks and is therefore known as Morgaon. In hindi we term Peacock as "Mor".

Later proceed to Theur_ At Theur is a temple dedicated to Chintamani Vinayak The village is situated along the river Mulamutha_ Ganesh as Chintamani is god who brings peace Of mind and drives away all perplexities of the mind. It is believed that Brahma, the creator once felt tharva that is restive. To still his mind he called upon Lord Ganesha. The place where Brahma achieved the quietude he was looking for is known as the Sthavar region or as Theur After your visit, stop enroute at a local restaurant for Lunch.

Further drive onto Siddhatek. This is a remote little village along the river Bhima. The god Siddhivinayak is considered a powerful deity It is believed that it was here on the Siddhatek Mountain, that Vishnu acquired Siddhi Later drive onto Ranjangaon. The Maha Ganpati is the most powerful representation Of Lord Ganesh The idol is depicted as having eight, ten Or twelve arms. It is after invoking this form of Ganpati that Shiva vanquished the demon Tripurasur and so he is also known as Tripurarivade Mahaganpati Night stay at Pune hotel.

Day 2

Ozar-Lenyadri-Pali-Mahad

After Breakfast proceed to Ozar. On the banks of the Kukdeshwar river, Ozhar is where Lord Vighneshwar resides. Lord Ganesh is known as Vigneshwara or the remover of all obstacles, this he achieved by vanquishing the demon Vighnasura. After darshan, leave for Lenyandri. Lenyadri, it is to the North of Pune along the Kukdi River. The Ganesh puran calls this place as Jirnapur or Lekhan Parbat. Girijatmaj Vinayak refers to the Ganesha as the son of Parvati. Girija is another name for Parvati & Atamaj means son. This is the only temple of the Ashtavinayak which is on a mountain and is set in a Buddhist cave-temple. After darshan, take a halt for lunch. Then proceed to Pali. Among the Ashtavinayakas, Ballaleshvara at Pali is the only Ganesh who is famous by the name of his devotee and who is dressed up as a brahmin. Village Pali is situated in the Sudhagad taluka in the district of Raigad. This place is nestled between the fort Sarasgad and River Amba. After Darshan drive to Mahad_ Mahad is a pretty village set in the hilly region Of Konkan in the Raigarh district and the Khalapur Taluka of Maharashtra. Ganesha as Varad Vinayak fulfills all desires and grants all boons. This region was known as Bhadrak or Madhak in ancient times. A nandadeep has been lit in this temple which has been continuously lit since 1892. Night drop at Mumbai Airport / Railway Station with memorable experiences of the tour.
