Airport - Nuwara Eliya
On Arrive to the airport and transfer to Nuwara Eliya hotel, en route visit Ramboda hanuman temple & Ramboda water fall. Tea Plantation - visit a tea plantation and a tea factory where one of the best teas in the world is produced. You will be told all about the process of manufacturing tea and also see how tea is graded. Taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory. Nuwara Eliya – Sri Lanka's premier hill resort with a fine bracing mountain climate, Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka's tea country, producing some of the world’s best tea. The mountain slopes and valleys are a carpet of velvety green tea plantations, interspersed with gushing streams and tumbling waterfalls. Red or green roofed plantation bungalows, English country style homes and hotels with lovely flower gardens, a fine 18 hole golf course and a racecourse gives Nuwara Eliya a decidedly British character. Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast do a city shopping tour of Nuwara Eliya including to a visit to Hakgala Botanical Garden, Seetha Amman Temple & Ashok vatika, Ravana palace. Hanuman Shrine (Hanuman Gada) - which was dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is believed to be the place where Hanuman had been landed in the country in search of Sita, can observe a 18 foot height Hanuman statute. The Hakgala Botanical Gardens- was first established in 1861 under the curatorship of William Nock, JK Nock and JJ Nock. It lies under the Hakgala Peak, between 5000 - 6000 feet in elevation – one of the highest set Botanical Gardens in the world. It boasts 100 year old Monterey Cypress trees from California, Japanese Cedars, Himalayan Pines and English Oak. Overnight stay at the hotel in Nuwara Eliya.
Colombo City & Shopping Tour
After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for a city/shopping tour of Colombo - Colombo like many capital cities in developing countries is fast changing its face. Almost overnight, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood. Yet in some parts, the old-world charm is retained. For example, there is a 100-year-old clock tower and several British built colonial buildings. Other places of interest are the Pettah bazaar - where one can strike good bargains, a Hindu and a Buddhist temple, residential areas - where you find stately homes of the affluent and the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) - an outright gift to Sri Lanka from the People's Republic of China. After your Breakfast at hotel, proceed for check-out and take your return transfer to the Colombo airport and board your flight back to India.
